The City of Oskaloosa officially became the County Seat of Jefferson County, Kansas, in 1864. As County Seat, the City is home to the courthouse, law enforcement, ambulance and fire stations, post office, various restaurants, variety stores, gas stations and medical offices. MUNICIPAL ANNOUNCEMENTS:
CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS are now being held at CITY HALL, 100 E. Washington Street, Suite C (Hwy 59, north of blinking light). The City Council has two member vacancies. If interested in the position contact City Hall. The Council meets twice per month. Members must reside within the city limits of Oskaloosa.
THE CITY OF OSKALOOSA IS LOOKING FOR PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION MEMBERS. If you or someone you know is interested, please contact City Hall. The Commission meets once per month. Members must reside within the city limits of Oskaloosa.
Residents will, on occasion, drop by or call City Hall and find that it is closed. Due to budget constraints, the City Council opted to turn the Treasurer vacancy into a part-time position. In doing so, that sometimes creates occasions where the office cannot be staffed during the absence of the City Clerk. As always, the drop box is still available at 605 Delaware Street for utility payments. When possible the City will update this website to notify the public when the office is going to be closed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cuase and thank you for your patience.
